How to Help
No family, no home, and no one to call when things go wrong. That’s the harsh reality for so many foster youth.
But it doesn’t have to be that way. With your support, foster youth will have someone to call when things get tough, and hope for a brighter future.
Your support will help the foster youth in our programs graduate from high school, attend and graduate college, find stable housing and employment, and will have a direct and lasting impact in thier lives for generations to come.
Joining Our Team
Are you interested in joining UFC’s long history of making a difference in the lives of foster youth?
At the core of each UFC program is the belief that the best way to make a difference in the lives of foster youth is to provide reliable relationships over time. UFC is seeking to build a meaningful, long-term relationship with its volunteer community and is looking for volunteers eager to connect with our organization’s mission and youth.

Common Questions
How are volunteers selected?
Prospect volunteers apply for open positions and are interviewed and selected based on their skills, commitment and availability, much like our employees. Our process is designed to ensure a meaningful experience for our volunteers and help UFC carry out its mission through a dedicated, skilled volunteer community.
Am I required to complete a background check and get fingerprinted?
To ensure a safe work environment, UFC requires all employees and volunteers to complete and pass a background check. The State of California mandates anyone working or volunteering with foster youth to get fingerprinted.
How long is the volunteer orientation?
Orientations last about an hour. Our orientation is designed to teach prospect volunteers about UFC, discuss open positions, answer questions and complete a volunteer application.
How long before I can begin volunteering?
The process, after attending an orientation, make take up to three weeks. Volunteers who pass the interview stage will first need to complete an online background check, and then schedule an appointment for fingerprinting.

The holiday gift wrap event at UFC was a great teambuilding event for our office. It was inspiring to witness UFC's dedication and determination in helping children in need.”
