Brass Ring Awards Dinner

Honoring individuals whose humanitarianism and commitment have put opportunity within the reach of children.

Since 1999, this event has recognized members of our community who have spent significant energy and resources to help those less fortunate.

Brass Ring has raised over $13 million dollars to help support the foster youth in UFC's programs.

A Brass Ring to remember at the Beverly Hilton

Over $1.2 million was raised at UFC's 9th Brass Ring Awards Dinner at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Over 400 guests were joined by cast members of Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice to pay tribute to two exceptional individuals and celebrate the work of UFC and the incredible accomplishments of the foster youth in our programs. Kate Walsh, Benjamin Bratt, Jessica Capshaw and Chandra Wilson presented Shonda Rhimes, creator of Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice, with the Brass Ring Award. Michael Milken and Robert A. Daly, Jr., son of UFC's late founder Nancy Daly, presented UFC Board Member Richard Merkin, M.D. with the Nancy M. Daly Founder's Award.

"Look around you, look at this room, look at UFC, an idea grew into a force that touched countless children."

Richard Merkin, M.D., recipient of the Nancy M. Daly Founder's Award

The event was hosted by Extra's Mario Lopez (view Extra's Brass Ring coverage) and included a performance by Gifted choir featuring UFC College Readiness student, Eulalia. UFC program graduates Dee Hankins and LaQueita Owens shared their personal stories with the guests including how they were able to overcome incredible barriers and with the help of their family of UFC staff and supporters, achieve their goals.

"I'm on my way to Cal State LA where I will major in political science; I'm also working on becoming an RN. I sit on the Pathways Alumni Committee; I also sit on the board for my son, and nephew's football league. All of these accomplishments were made possible because of an organization who believed in me. I am proud to be part of the UFC family."

LaQueita Owens, Pathways Program Graduate

Christian Kolberg of Kolberg Auctions led the ever-entertaining live auction of once-in-a-lifetime experiences and college sponsorships, helping to raise over $230,000! The evening concluded with a stellar performance by Toni Braxton!

A big thank you to our Brass Ring Event Chair Ande Rosenblum and her committe of dedicated individuals! On behalf of the foster youth in our programs, thank you to all of the Brass Ring supporters - we couldn't do this live-changing work without you.
