"Even though I wasn't a foster kid, I've spent a lot of time alone and as a transient, wandering through LA and across the country. So anything I can do to help our kids build a stronger, more grounded foundation, I'm down for it."
Chef Roy Choi of A-Frame and Kogi Trucks
Local Chefs came together to support local foster kids and raised over $250,000 to help current and former foster youth in UFC's programs graduate from high school, attend and graduate from college, find stable housing and employment. The chefs and Cultivate guests were able to meet some of our Pathways Program youth at the UFC Pathways booth and learned from the youth first-hand about the Pathways edible garden at UFC's housing site in Whittier.
The large format wine auction offered rare and collectible bottles and two raffles included the opportunity to cook in the legendary Chez Panisse kitchen or win an incredible set of Le Creuset cookware and a trip to Martis Camp in Lake Tahoe or a tour of the fabulous Opus One winery in Napa . All the Cultivate L.A. guests went home with special surprises in their gift bags, including Jamie Oliver's cookbook, Jamie's Food Revolution. Cultivate L.A. aprons are available - please contact Liv Amend to purchase.
We hope to see all our wonderful guests, vendors and Cultivate L.A. participants again next year! Thank you for your incredible support and commitment to helping the foster youth in our community.
