UFC Housing Programs
We believe that with the proper support and guidance, former foster youth can make a successful transition to adulthood.
It doesn’t happen magically when they turn 18. However, we have a unique opportunity and, in fact, a responsibility to provide foster youth ages 18-23 with the support that will allow them to prepare for independence. In Pathways, we do this by surrounding them with positive role models, creating enduring relationships, challenging them to better themselves and providing them with the safety net of a service-enriched transitional living program.
Housing Partnerships
Through these exciting partnerships, UFC hopes to expand the number of youth served in the Pathways Program by 25 beds, or 42%.
Permanent Housing
In another forward thinking development in our Alumni Services Program, UFC is partnering with Adobe Communities to provide the first permanent affordable housing for former foster youth in Los Angeles County. This exciting project fulfills a great need by providing permanent affordable housing units for 10 youth exiting our Pathways and College Sponsorship Programs. UFC is committed to continuing to provide services to UFC program alumni including life skills, career guidance and educational support. UFC is currently partnering with Resident and Community Services from both Abode and Casa Dominguez to provide on-going, quality programming to residents.

Through a partnership with the Community Development Commission, UFC will add a new Pathways Program facility in Whittier, serving 10 more youth at imminent risk of homelessness. Architectural Plans have been completed for the project which will add ten new beds to the Pathways Program during the 2009-10 fiscal year as well as a large community room in which all alumni activities will take place.
Long Beach Housing Project
In an exciting opportunity to bring Pathways to an underserved area of Los Angeles County, UFC has partnered with LINC Housing Corp. and the City of Long Beach to redevelop the Palace Hotel, providing housing for an additional 13 youth in 2011. UFC's Pathways Program will provide on site services to the youth including advocacy counseling, weekly life skills classes, career and education guidance and mental health services. A potential retail store space on site may be developed to offer jobs, employment and entrepreneurship training for Pathways residents.
Additionally, this site would serve as a HUB for the expansion into the
