UFC provides financial assistance to foster youth so they can attend four-year colleges/universities, lessening the fear of an overwhelming financial burden. The program offers support services and personalized attention to sponsorship recipients, with the goal of empowering students to become good decision makers. Education Program staff monitor the progress of each sponsorship recipient through regular contact and meetings. Students also receive support in post-graduation planning to help them secure their first job or entrance into graduate school.

UFC provides many College Sponsorship recipients with paid, career-oriented internships that afford them the opportunity to explore their chosen majors, apply their skills and gain work experience. UFC’s summer internships are professional development experiences for youth prior to college graduation that can be the key to making them marketable candidates when it’s time to seek full-time employment.

The application is a two-part process that runs from July through January of a student's senior year. Students referred from July to early fall of their senior years will benefit from hands-on college counseling with UFC staff members. The second round of applications will be mailed out in the late fall and are due in January of each year.
