College Sponsorship Program
Find out how high school seniors can apply for a $15,000 college sponsorship!
UFC's College Sponsorship Program offers students $3,000 a year for up to five years for college-related expenses, as well as ongoing support through graduation from college. The program also offers support services and personalized attention to sponsorship recipients, with the goal of empowering students to become good decision makers.

Program Components:
- financial assistance to attend 4-year colleges/universities
- regular contact and meetings with Education Program staff
- support in post-graduation planning to help students secure their first job or entrance into graduate school

paid, career-oriented internships to explore chosen majors, apply skills and gain work experience
Eligibility:
- Los Angeles County foster or probation youth in 12th grade
- Students who are ILP eligible and/or in legal guardianship
- Seniors with a cumulative 2.8 GPA or above who will be enrolled in a four-year college or university in the fall
- Students who are committed to fulfilling their educational goals
Application Process:
The application is a two-part process that runs from July through January of a student's senior year. Get a head start by applying early to the program. Students referred from July to early fall of their senior years will benefit from hands-on college counseling with UFC staff members. The second round of applications will be mailed out in the late fall and are due in January of each year.
- High school seniors referred by Aug. 31 receive Boot Camp services in the fall.
>> includes college counseling & college application assistance - Referred students that meet eligibility requirements receive program application.
>> must have 2.8+ GPA, plans to attend 4-year college/university in the fall, ILP eligible or in legal guardianship - Completed applications for eligible students received by January each year.
>> all applicants may receive ongoing college counseling from UFC - Evaluations of applicants conducted based on criteria provided.
>> criteria may include academic performance, extracurricular activities, personal experiences, and receptivity to program - New class of College Sponsorship students selected May each year.
>> new students attend UFC summer orientation to secure place in the program

College admissions Boot Camp!
UFC offers a workshop for rising seniors to learn about the college admisstions process. Upon completion of the two-day workshop, you will receive:
- Completed draft of CSU application
- Overview of Common Application for private schools or UC application
- Rough draft of a personal statement
- Financial Aid PIN
- Timeline for your application process
- Tours of 2 local CSU campuses
