Services Offered

  • Furnished apartments (currently located in Whittier and Inglewood)
  • Advocacy and counseling services, weekly hour-long contacts with counselors
  • Independent living skills training
  • Educational & career guidance
  • Assistance to secure medical coverage
  • Peer counseling support (provided by a former foster youth)
  • On-site mental health counseling
  • Assistance with locating apartments upon exit from the program
  • Follow-up services with youth who have completed the program
  • Housing resources and referrals throughout Los Angeles County

Eligibility

  • 18-23 years old
  • Emancipated youth from the Los Angeles County Foster Care & Probation Systems
  • Youth at imminent risk of homelessness
  • Attendance at six-week orientation sessions

Selection Process

  • Submit application
  • Interview with Pathways Staff
  • Six-week orientation
  • Committee selection

Program Expectations

  • Attend advocacy and life skills meetings
  • Maintain employment and/or school enrollment
  • Rent payment and apartment upkeep
  • Community service and involvement
