Johnathon’s Journey to Success in Community College!
Monday, April 10th, 2023

We are thrilled to share with you the inspiring story of Johnathon, a remarkable member of our Scholars Program. Johnathon has been with us since his high school days, and we couldn’t be prouder of his journey so far.

During his junior year in high school, Johnathon faced a major setback. He found himself behind in credits and was at risk of not graduating on time. But instead of giving up, Johnathon enrolled in a credit recovery program, worked tirelessly, caught up on all his credits by his senior year and he graduated on time with flying colors!

Johnathon then took a leap of faith and enrolled in a community college to pursue his passion for photography. He faced several challenges during his first semester, including a 2-hour commute to school and the need to find a job to support himself. But Johnathon was determined to succeed, and he didn’t let these obstacles stand in his way.

With the help of United Friends and his on-campus resources, Johnathon found a work-study job at the campus library and enrolled in a summer bridge program to get acquainted with college life. He also made sure to check in with his United Friends counselor regularly to stay on track with his goals.

And all of his hard work paid off! Johnathon earned a spot on the Dean’s Honor List with an impressive 3.8 GPA. His dedication and perseverance are an inspiration to all of us, and we couldn’t be more proud of him. We congratulate him on all his accomplishments and can’t wait to see what he does next!
