Celebrating Latinx Culture

Having originated online in the early 2000s, Latinx is a term that has been used in social media by activists, students, and academics as an inclusive alternative to the gender binary inherent within the Spanish language. While used less often, we must recognize that it is up to the individual to determine which term resonates with how they express themselves and their culture.

The smallest tokens of recognition can make the largest of impacts on a child’s life. By understanding the differences between these terms, we can do our part to encourage our foster youth to discover and embrace their cultures and celebrate the richness of their heritage.
