Our March Foster Care Hero of the Month, Jhamasa Lewis, is a member of the UFC Next Generation Board. She is also an entrepreneur, artist, activist, and the Director of Service Learning at Brentwood School. Jhamasa was dedicated to her educational pursuits growing up and became a first-generation college graduate in 2013. She then spent five years giving back to her community through non-profit work.
“United Friends has provided a space for me to rebrand and define what success can look like after exiting the foster care system,” says Jhamasa. “By providing opportunities like being a member of the Next Generation Board and being a recipient of the scholarship program, I have been able to grow and expand my life, and thus the identity and brand of what it means to be a successful foster youth.”
