Foster Care Hero of the Month
Friday, May 28th, 2021

Our May Foster Care Hero of the Month is Connie Chung Joe, a social justice and AAPI foster care advocate here in LA County. Connie was the Executive Director of Korean American Family Services for more than a decade, helping provide culturally sensitive homes to AAPI foster children in Los Angeles. Her work helped to ensure that AAPI foster youth maintained a connection to their heritage throughout their experiences in the child welfare system. Connie is now the Chief Executive Officer of Asian Americans Advancing Justice LA, a non-profit legal aid and civil rights organization dedicated to advocating for civil rights, providing legal services and education and building coalitions on behalf of the Asian Americans, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities. There isn’t a more deserving honoree than Connie, particularly during AAPI Heritage Month. Thank you for all that you do, Connie!
