Meet UFC Scholar, Sherrie
Wednesday, September 29th, 2021

Sherrie is a compassionate young woman who was afraid her shot at going to college was lost during her senior year of high school because her grades were not competitive. However, she graduated high school and went on to excel at LA Southwest College. While there, she became involved in campus advocacy programs, developed her skills as a poet and public speaker, tutored other students, held a campus job, and developed great relationships with peers and staff. Sherrie completed her time at Los Angeles Southwest College in Spring 2021 with a 3.70 Magna Cum Laude honors and two Associate Degrees in Communication Studies and Social and Behavioral Sciences. But, her achievements haven’t stopped there.

Her resilience, grit, and effort led to acceptances from nine Universities including UCLA, UC Berkeley, and Loyola Marymount. Sherrie has committed to UCLA and started this Fall as an Education and Social Transformation major. Sherrie’s ultimate goal is to conduct more research on building programs that positively impact foster youth. We are so proud of Sherrie and we wish her all the best as she continues on her educational journey!
