New Funding to Assist Foster Youth with Housing
Tuesday, January 17th, 2023

Will funded housing programs move the needle in removing foster youth from the streets?

According to John Burton Advocates for Youth, California counties are currently in the process of accepting $34 million in new funding to assist current and former foster youth with stable housing.

The annual funding has expanded two existing programs: The Housing Navigation and Maintenance Program (HNMP) and the Transitional Housing Program (THP). Both serve youth ages 18 through 24 and focus on offering housing navigation to help youth secure and maintain housing. They also fund local programs that provide 36 months of transitional housing and supportive services.
